The Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course has been designed by ASCM (APICS) to reduce knowledge gaps, use standard terminology developed by the industry and enhance internal communications across the extended supply chain.

The Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course is suitable for supply chain professionals:

• Start or restart your ASCM (APICS) supply chain education journey
• As part of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) collect maintenance points for your existing APICS CPIM, CSCP, CLTD or CTSC Certifications
• A stepping stone for those inspired to enroll in:

ASCM Procurement Certificate program, ASCM Warehousing Certificate program, ASCM Planning Certificate Program, ASCM Technology Certificate, ASCM Supplier Relationaship Management Certificate program, ASCM Resilience Certificate program

Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), Certified in Transformation for Supply Chain (CTSC) 

Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) covers the following modules:
Module 1: Operations Management

Module 3: Channel Network Design
Module 4: Inventory Management
Module 5: Distribution Requirements Planning
Module 6: Warehouse Management
Module 7: Packaging and Materials Handling
Module 8: Transportation Management
Module 9: Transportation Operations

The online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course, to be completed by Self-Study, includes the following:

• ASCM FDL e-Learning System: online course material and case studies accompanied with a series of questions and quizzes facilitating discussion, online access for one year
• APICS Dictionary App can be downloaded to your smartphone and as a pdf.
• Course price for the Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course is €200 per course participant (this course price includes Joint ASCM / IPICS Membership with no discounts of €100), with online access for one year. The course participant is entitled to collect 27 certification maintenance points towards maintaining an already existing APICS certification.
• Course price for all six Foundations of Supply Chain Management courses is €300 per course participant (this course price includes Joint ASCM / IPICS Membership with no discounts of €100), with online access for one year.  With access to all six Foundations courses the course participant is entitled to collect 135 certification maintenance points towards maintaining an already existing APICS certification.
• If there is sufficient demand we will run an online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course which would be given by an officially recognised APICS instructor.
• The six Foundations of Supply Chain Management courses are:

  • Foundations of Inventory Management (PIM)
  • Foundations of Distribution & Logistics (PDL)
