CPIM Self-Study

The recommended procedure for preparing the certification exams is to review the curriculum outline, which defines the module content, and then to study each topic, using the references. Each Participant Guide includes a Practice Questions Booklet.

APICS CPIM Exam Content Manual
The CPIM exam content manual is the only publication that provides you with a detailed exam curriculum outline, key terms, and recommended references for the certification exams. The references listed in the manual are reviewed annually and are the recommended references of the APICS Curricula and Certification Council.

This book is €25 for members and €45 for non members.

The APICS Dictionary
The APICS dictionary is a unique reference tool defining the terms that resource management professionals use every day.  This is available as a free download to joint APICS members via the APICS website.

A print copy is available at a cost of €25 for members and €45 for non members.

Participant Guides

Each home-study course requires approximately 25 to 30 hours to complete.

Basics of Supply Chain Management

Basics of Supply Chain Management covers basic concepts in managing the complete flow of materials in a supply chain. In Basics you get a complete overview of material flow, from internal and external suppliers, to and from your organization. Review courses are not for self-study but must be facilitated by an instructor in a classroom review course. Each Participant Guide includes a Practice Questions Booklet.

Master Planning of Resources

Candidates explore processes used to develop sales and operations plans, and identify and assess internal and external demand and forecasting requirements. The course focuses on the importance of producing achievable master schedules that are consistent with business policies, objectives, and resource constraints. Review courses are not for self-study but must be facilitated by an instructor in a classroom review course. Each Participant Guide includes a Practice Questions Booklet.

Detailed Scheduling and Planning

Candidates focus on the various techniques for material and capacity scheduling. The course includes detailed descriptions of material requirements planning (MRP), capacity requirements planning (CRP), inventory management practices, and procurement and supplier planning. Review courses are not for self-study but must be facilitated by an instructor in a classroom review course. Each Participant Guide includes a Practice Questions Booklet.

Execution and Control of Operations

Candidates focus on the areas of prioritizing and sequencing work, executing work plans and implementing controls, reporting activity results, and providing evaluating feedback on performance. The course explains techniques for scheduling and controlling production processes, the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans, and the control and handling of inventories. Review courses are not for self-study but must be facilitated by an instructor in a classroom review course. Each Participant Guide includes a Practice Questions Booklet.

Strategic Management of Resources

Strategic Management of Resources explores the relationship of existing and emerging processes and technologies to manufacturing strategy and supply chain-related functions. The course addresses three main topics: aligning resources with the strategic plan, configuring and integrating operating processes to support the strategic plan, and implementing change.

Subject Matter Reprints

Reprints cost €40 for members and €90 for non members. This does not include delivery within Ireland.

The CPIM Reprints are compilations of articles on various topics and subtopics covered in the five modules of the CPIM curriculum. Selected by members of various APICS Curricula and Certification Council subcommittees, the articles and case studies provide both theoretical and practical perspectives to help candidates gain greater understanding when preparing for CPIM exams.
